Tripura Fair Participation Subsidy — 50% Up to ₹1 Lakh — Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Answers to the questions founders most often ask about Tripura Fair Participation Subsidy — 50% Up to ₹1 Lakh — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.

Frequently asked questions

How much can a unit get for one fair?

A unit recovers 50% of two things: the travel cost of one person attending the fair, and the cost of transporting its goods there. The total for that participation cannot cross ₹1 lakh, which is the ceiling on a single claim.

If a unit exhibits at two fairs, does the ceiling become ₹2 lakh?

No. The ₹1 lakh figure applies per participation and stays at ₹1 lakh each time. The two-fair rule only limits how many claims can be made in a year; it does not double the rupee ceiling, so two participations do not add up to a ₹2 lakh award.

Whose travel expenses are reimbursed?

One person's travel. The clause covers the travelling expenses of a single individual from the unit, plus the transportation of goods. Costs for a larger delegation are not covered under this incentive.

Which fairs and exhibitions qualify?

State level and national level fairs are the standard case. An international fair can also be contemplated, but it needs prior approval, so that clearance should be in place before committing to the event.

Is this a loan, a grant or an equity investment?

It is neither a loan nor an equity investment. The money comes as a State subsidy reimbursement under TIIPIS 2022, so no stake is given away, founders keep their shareholding, and the amount does not have to be repaid.

Where do I submit the claim?

On the Government of Tripura's SWAAGAT single-window portal at https://swaagat.tripura.gov.in/. The claim sits under TIIPIS 2022, as the fairs and exhibitions incentive of that scheme.

Is there a deadline to apply?

No closing date is advertised. The head runs on a rolling basis under TIIPIS 2022, so a unit can claim as and when it participates, subject to the two-fair yearly limit.

What documents are usually needed?

Expect to provide the invitation or organiser confirmation for the fair, travel tickets and bills for the one person travelling, goods-transport bills covering the exhibits, and a declaration of how many fairs have already been claimed during the year.

Does a startup need DPIIT Startup India registration, or a particular industry classification?

No. This clause does not require Startup India (DPIIT) recognition and it sets out no sector list. There is also no requirement for a unit to relocate.

How many times a year can a unit claim?

Up to two fairs in a year. Any participation beyond the second falls outside this incentive for that year, at least until the next claim year begins.

Is this the same as Tripura's export promotion subsidy or transport subsidy?

No, it is separate. This is incentive 10 of TIIPIS 2022 and is distinct from the export-promotion subsidy and from the State transport subsidy for secondary raw materials, so it is claimed on its own.
