Selection process

Approval turns on eligibility checks and on the applicant's project already having been sanctioned by a recognised financial institution. Applications come in through the online portal and are then reviewed by the Department of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and Textiles, Government of West Bengal.

Reviewers examine three things in particular:

  • whether the unit genuinely manufactures or processes textiles;
  • whether production began on or after the stated cut-off date;
  • whether the project holds prior approval and sanction from a Central Financial Institution, a Commercial Bank or a State Financial Institution.

An Eligibility Certificate from the West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited also forms part of the compliance picture. Only projects that clear every one of these checks — and are therefore both legitimate and financially viable — are granted the fee waiver.
