You must engage a vendor who is registered with UPCL. Before installation begins you also need the No Objection Certificate that UPCL issues online after your application, so the NOC comes first and the installation follows.

The net meter installed at the time of grid connection measures both the electricity you draw from the grid and the electricity you feed into it. That is what allows surplus power from your rooftop system to earn you income and lets your bill reflect net consumption — the dual benefit of lower bills plus revenue from exported units.
