Production Linked Incentive Support on JDPs — ₹12L for Jute Exporters — Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Answers to the questions founders most often ask about Production Linked Incentive Support on JDPs — ₹12L for Jute Exporters — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.

Frequently asked questions

How much money does the PLI Support on JDPs scheme actually pay?

A beneficiary is reimbursed 5% of the raw jute material cost that went into manufacturing exported Jute Diversified Products. That figure cannot exceed 3% of the sales value of those exports, and the total payout is capped at ₹12,00,000 per unit per annum. In practice the lowest of these limits decides what lands in your account.

Is there an application deadline I need to beat?

No. The scheme runs on a rolling, always-open basis, so there is no last date to race against. What you do need to keep up with is the quarterly claim cycle, since claims are filed for each quarter of production and export activity.

Who is eligible to apply?

Jute mill companies and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) units that are set up within India and are actively manufacturing and exporting Jute Diversified Products. The exported goods must contain more than 50% jute by weight, or more than 33% by weight for multifibre products where jute is the dominant fibre, and beneficiaries must be Aadhaar-seeded.

Do I need DPIIT recognition or MSME registration to qualify?

The scheme's stated eligibility does not include DPIIT startup recognition. What matters is that the applicant is either a jute mill company or an MSME unit based in India, is engaged in manufacturing and exporting JDPs, and meets the jute-content and Aadhaar-seeding conditions.

Does the scheme take equity in my company?

No. This is a subsidy-style reimbursement, so it is completely non-dilutive — you receive cash back against eligible input cost without giving away any stake, shares or board seats.

When and how are claims paid out?

Claims are filed online on a quarterly basis and are paid within two months of submission, as long as the paperwork is complete. Payments for jute material and the receipt of export proceeds must move electronically or through banks; cash transactions are not considered.

What documents do I need to submit with a claim?

Along with the production and export details for the quarter, you have to upload proof such as shipping bills, bank transaction records and a certified chartered accountant report. These documents are what the National Jute Board cross-verifies before releasing the incentive.

Can I claim another incentive on the same exports?

No. Claimants must give the National Jute Board an undertaking that they have not availed, and will not avail, any other incentive on the JDP production and exports for which this incentive is being claimed.

What happens if a claim turns out to be fraudulent?

A unit found to have claimed benefits using false or fraudulent documents is liable to return the entire subsidy amount received, along with interest at prevailing bank rates for commercial loans.

How do I apply for the scheme?

Go to the National Jute Board portal at www.jute.com and fill in the 'PLI Beneficiaries Registration' form with your business details and compliance documents. Successful registration gives you a password, which you then use to log in and file the 'PLI Claim Submission' form each quarter before the Board verifies and disburses the amount.
