MICE Convention Centre cum Hotel Capital Subsidy — Up to ₹10 Crore (MP) — Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Answers to the questions founders most often ask about MICE Convention Centre cum Hotel Capital Subsidy — Up to ₹10 Crore (MP) — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.

Frequently asked questions

How much subsidy can I get under this scheme?

The subsidy equals 15% of your fixed capital investment, subject to a maximum of ₹10,00,00,000 (₹10 crore). Since the project must involve at least ₹20 crore of approved capital expenditure, the practical payout starts at roughly ₹3 crore and rises towards the ₹10 crore cap as the project gets bigger.

Is there a deadline to apply?

No — the scheme runs on a rolling basis with no fixed closing date. There is, however, a project-level clock: your subsidy application has to be submitted online within one year from the date commercial operations begin, so plan your paperwork around your opening date rather than a government notification.

What kind of project qualifies for this subsidy?

You need to establish a Convention Centre cum Hotel under MICE — a large convention venue with integrated hotel facilities. The main convention hall must have a seating capacity of 500 seats or more, the project must follow the criteria and standards set by the Government of India for convention centres, and it must involve a capital expenditure of at least ₹20 crore as approved by the department.

Which entities are allowed to apply?

A broad range of organisations can apply: Public Limited Company, Private Limited Company, LLP, Proprietorship Firm, Partnership Firm, Cooperative, Trust, FPO and Individual. You indicate your type of organisation while registering on the state's invest portal.

Does this subsidy take equity in my business?

No. It is a capital investment subsidy, not an investment, so the state does not take equity, shares or any ownership stake in your project. The money is an incentive towards your fixed capital expenditure on the convention centre cum hotel.

What happens if I shut the unit down early?

You are expected to run the unit continuously for at least three years from the date you avail the subsidy, and to submit a self-declaration of continuous operation every year. If the unit closes prematurely, between 50% and 80% of the subsidy has to be refunded.

How and where do I apply?

Register on the Madhya Pradesh Government's Invest Portal (sws.invest.mp.gov.in) as a "Vendor / Investor", entering your type of organisation, firm or company name and the authorised person's name along with an email ID and mobile number. Your Application Number, User ID and password are sent to that mobile number and email. After completing your profile and securing the mandatory permissions, you file the capital subsidy claim online once the project is built and operational.

What documents do I need for the claim?

The claim is filed entirely online and all supporting documents must be uploaded in the formats the scheme specifies — photographs, for instance, need to be in JPG. The department then verifies the submitted papers against the capital expenditure incurred, conformity with Government of India convention centre standards, and the seating capacity of your main hall.

Is the subsidy paid upfront or after the project is built?

It is claimed after the fact. You first complete construction, meet the minimum capital expenditure of ₹20 crore, and commence commercial operations. The subsidy application is then submitted online within one year of that start date, and the Tourism Department / Board verifies everything before the claim is processed for disbursement.

Who runs and verifies this scheme?

The Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, under the state's Department of Tourism, implements the programme and carries out verification. It checks the application and documents, the capital expenditure incurred, adherence to Government of India standards for convention centres and the required seating capacity before processing the subsidy claim.
