Selection process
Which authority handles a file depends on the scale of the investment:
- General Manager — processes Start-up Support applications.
- District Level Committee — handles investment proposals below ₹200 lakh.
- State Level Committee — handles investment proposals above ₹200 lakh.
Decisions rest on merit and on how closely a proposal follows the scheme's guidelines. The recommending or sanctioning authority may verify the particulars submitted, including plant and machinery and other assets belonging to the unit. Applicants who make the shortlist can be asked to supply further clarifications or details.
If the District Level Committee turns down an application, the promoter has the option of appealing to the State Level Committee.
