I am new to weaving. Can I still apply?
Yes. Young men and women who are starting a weaving career are eligible, provided they have completed handloom weaving training under a government scheme and hold the relevant certificate. That certificate is validated during the review.
Do I need a Weaver's Identity Card?
Yes. Holding a Weaver's Identity Card is a mandatory eligibility condition for the scheme.
Is there anything extra required if I want to buy a warping machine?
Yes, two things in addition to the standard conditions. You must have a certificate of experience in washing, and you must have adequate space available to install the machine.
How is the subsidy actually paid out?
It is released in two tranches. The first 50% is disbursed after the initial verification, and the remaining 50% is disbursed once your purchase of the equipment has been confirmed.
What about the other half of the equipment cost?
That is arranged by you. The remaining 50% can be financed through a loan from a bank or other financial institution, or paid from your own capital.
Is there a last date to submit the application?
No. The scheme operates on a rolling basis with no fixed deadline, so applications can be made at any time during the year.
How do I apply for the Kaimagga Vikasa Yojana?
Applications are offline. Visit the district-level office of the Handloom and Textile Department during office hours and ask the designated staff for a hard copy of the prescribed application form. Fill in all mandatory fields, attach self-attested copies of the required documents, and submit the signed form with the supporting papers at the same office. Finally, ask for a receipt or acknowledgment and check that it records the submission date, time and a unique identification number where applicable.
