Frequently asked questions

How much rebate does the Handloom Rebate Scheme actually give?

It depends on when you sell and who you are. During the 120 designated festival days the rebate is 10%, and a women-led cooperative gets 20% in that window. On regular sales through the year the rebate is 5%, rising to 15% for women-led groups.

Is there a last date to submit an application?

No. The scheme runs on a rolling basis and stays open, so you can register and apply on the eKutir portal at any point during the year.

Who is eligible to apply?

Registered cooperative societies, apex institutions and women-led groups that produce handloom products can apply. Every applicant also needs a rebate certification obtained in advance from the Commissionerate.

Does the scheme take equity or any stake in my organisation?

No. This is a rebate, not an investment — the government simply meets part of the price gap on handloom sales. Nothing is taken in return, there is no repayment, and no shares change hands.

What details and documents do I need for the application?

Registration on the portal asks for your full name, Aadhaar number, gender, date of birth, mobile number, email address and a password you choose, along with captcha verification. The scheme form then requires the necessary documents to be uploaded in the specified format and size, with the relevant document number entered wherever it is asked for.

How do I apply for the Handloom Rebate Scheme?

Everything happens online on the eKutir portal. Register as a new user, log in with the user ID and password sent to your mobile and email, complete your user profile, then select the Handloom Rebate Scheme from the schemes shown for your profile. Fill the mandatory fields across the form's tabs, upload your documents, accept the terms, declaration and privacy policy, and click Save & Next to generate a unique application number — note that number down, and print the form if you want a copy.

How can I check my application status, and where do I get help?

Go to the Application Status page on the eKutir portal, enter your Application Number and Date of Birth, and click View Status. For assistance or grievance redressal you can contact the helpdesk numbers provided by the department or reach out to your local District Industries Centre (DIC).

Is there any support beyond the cash rebate?

Yes. The scheme distributes e-Voucher toolkits to recipients, which are practical aids for running day-to-day work and reaching markets, alongside the rebate itself.

Which applicants get priority under the scheme?

Artisans belonging to Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Below Poverty Line categories are given priority consideration during review, and women-led cooperatives receive the enhanced rebate slabs as well.

What happens if my application is returned for corrections?

A Modify button becomes available on the portal once an application is sent back. You can use it to edit the details, re-upload documents if needed, and resubmit the application without starting over.
