Frequently asked questions
How much funding can a unit actually get under this scheme?
Two payouts are available and both can be claimed. The audit side reimburses 75% of what you pay a recognised institution or consultant for an energy or water audit, up to a ceiling of ₹50,000. The equipment side is a one-time contribution of 25% of the cost of the equipment the auditing authority recommends, capped at ₹20,00,000. Add the two ceilings together and the maximum support under this component is ₹20.5 lakh.
What is the deadline for applying?
No single closing date has been announced for this component. The parent policy is in force from 1 October 2024 to 29 September 2029. For the registration application, you must file within one year of whichever is latest — the date your loan was disbursed, the date production began, or the date the policy became operative. After your Date of Commercial Production (DoCP), the eligibility certificate application window is generally one year from DoCP, or one year from the Government Resolution or registration certificate, depending on your unit category.
Who is eligible to apply for this assistance?
Existing industrial units and newly established ones are both eligible. What matters is that the unit is genuinely taking steps to reduce its energy or water use, and that it operates in Gujarat's textile sector, since this is a component of the Gujarat Textile Policy.
Is the 10% reduction condition mandatory?
It applies only to the equipment component. To claim the 25% equipment assistance, the unit has to demonstrate that its energy or water consumption dropped by at least 10% over the 12 months immediately before the audit. The audit fee reimbursement is a separate benefit and is not tied to that threshold.
Does the government take equity or expect the money back?
No. This is a government subsidy, not an investment. The support comes as cash assistance against eligible costs, with no equity stake taken in the unit and no repayment obligation.
Do I need DPIIT recognition or MSME registration to apply?
DPIIT recognition is not listed as a condition for this component. MSME status does matter in a practical sense, because it determines where your post-DoCP application goes. MSME units are routed by gross fixed capital investment — up to ₹10 crore to the General Manager of the District Industries Centre, and above ₹10 crore up to ₹50 crore to the MSME Commissioner. Units that are not MSMEs apply to the Industries Commissioner.
Where and how do I apply?
The registration application goes to the Industries Commissioner in the prescribed format, along with the required documents, within one year of the applicable trigger date. After commercial production, the provisional or final eligibility certificate application follows the route matching your unit — District Industries Centre, MSME Commissioner or Industries Commissioner. The full policy document, including the prescribed application format, is available as a PDF on the Gujarat Industries Commissioner's site at ic.gujarat.gov.in.
What documents will I need to submit?
The scheme calls for the prescribed application form supported by documents that let the authority verify your unit and your claim. That means the audit report from the recognised institution or consultant, evidence of the consumption reduction if you are claiming equipment assistance, and the paperwork establishing your unit's details, investment and commercial production date. The published guidelines for your unit category set out the exact checklist, so check those before filing.
Can I buy any equipment I want and claim 25% of it?
No. The one-time 25% assistance is restricted to equipment that the auditing authority specifically recommends in its findings, and it is capped at ₹20,00,000. Equipment bought outside that recommendation does not qualify under this component.
Is this support only for textile businesses?
Yes, it is a component of the Gujarat Textile Policy, whose stated aim is to strengthen the state's textile value chain with particular emphasis on garments, apparel and technical textiles. Textile-sector industrial units in Gujarat are the intended applicants.
