FAQ

Answers to the questions founders most often ask about Goa Internet Subsidy Scheme — 25% Bandwidth Reimbursement up to ₹5L — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.

Frequently asked questions

How much funding does the Goa Internet Subsidy Scheme offer?

An eligible IT Unit gets back 25% of what it spends on high-speed internet bandwidth, subject to a ceiling of ₹5,00,000 per annum. If 25% of your bandwidth cost comes to more than ₹5 lakh, you receive ₹5 lakh; if it comes to less, you receive the smaller amount. The reimbursement is calculated on expenditure you have already incurred.

Is there an application deadline?

No. The scheme runs on a rolling basis and stays open, so there is no last date for enrolling. After incurring high-speed internet expenditure, you can file a claim on a quarterly, half-yearly or annual cycle — whichever suits the way you track costs.

Who is eligible to apply?

New and existing Information Technology Units that have operations in Goa. The unit must be registered in one of the accepted entity types, and the bank accounts of the unit as well as of its partners or directors must be linked to Aadhaar.

Which types of entities can apply?

The scheme accepts five forms of organisation:

  • Proprietorship Firm
  • Private Limited Company
  • Public Limited Company
  • Registered Partnership Firm
  • Limited Liability Partnership (LLP)

In every case, the unit must be operating in Goa and the relevant bank accounts must be Aadhaar-linked.

Does the scheme take equity or a stake in my business?

No. It is a reimbursement, not an investment. The government pays back a portion of your high-speed internet bill and takes nothing in return — there is no equity, no shareholding and no conversion involved.

For how many years can I claim this subsidy?

Three years. The window starts from the date your unit began operations or from the date the policy was notified, whichever is later. Within that period, and within the annual cap of ₹5,00,000, you can keep filing claims as you incur the expense.

How do I apply for the Internet Subsidy Scheme?

Applications are filed online through the Goa Online portal at goaonline.gov.in. Register with your email ID and mobile number and verify both using the OTP method, then complete the registration page with a unique login name and a strong password, accepting the declaration and terms. After logging in, click Services in the top ribbon, go to IT Services and open the Internet Subsidy Scheme form. Fill in all mandatory fields, upload the supporting documents and submit. A unique registration number is generated on submission — note it down, as it is used for tracking and all future correspondence.

What happens after I submit my application?

There are two review stages. Within 30 days of receiving the application, the department scrutinises it against a predefined checklist covering eligibility and documentation. Applications that pass go before an Empowered Committee, which makes the final decision within 60 days of receipt. Approved applicants receive a Sanction Order, followed by disbursement of the subsidy.

Do I need DPIIT recognition or MSME registration?

Neither appears among the conditions listed for this scheme. What is required is that the unit operates in Goa, is registered as one of the accepted entity types, and has Aadhaar-linked bank accounts for the unit and its partners or directors.

What if my application is not approved?

Applications that fail to meet the scheme's criteria do not receive a Sanction Order. Instead, a Regret Letter is issued to the applicant.
