AP Industries Tech Upgradation Subsidy — Up to ₹10 Crore — Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions founders most often ask about AP Industries Tech Upgradation Subsidy — Up to ₹10 Crore — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.
Frequently asked questions
How much funding does this scheme provide?
The subsidy covers a share of your technology upgradation cost, and that share depends on your category. FPOs, SHGs, federations, co-operatives and societies get 35% of the cost, capped at ₹3 Crore. Micro enterprises get 20%, up to ₹20 Lakhs; small enterprises get 20%, up to ₹1 Crore; medium enterprises get 20%, up to ₹5 Crore; and large enterprises get 10%, up to ₹10 Crore. The highest amount payable under the scheme is therefore ₹10 Crore.
Which entities are eligible to apply?
Farmer producer organisations, self-help groups, federations, co-operatives and societies can apply. So can micro, small, medium and large industrial units. In every case, the proposal has to involve expansion, diversification or modernisation of the enterprise.
Is the incentive only for MSMEs, or can large units apply as well?
Large enterprises are covered too, just at a lower rate of support — 10% of the upgradation cost, with a maximum of ₹10 Crore. Micro, small and medium enterprises receive 20% of the cost, with caps of ₹20 Lakhs, ₹1 Crore and ₹5 Crore respectively.
What kind of projects qualify for technology upgradation support?
Projects that modernise machinery, bring in new technology, improve processes, expand capacity, or diversify into new product lines or markets are covered, as long as they contribute to the enterprise's growth and efficiency.
Does the government take equity or a stake in my business?
No. This is a cash subsidy, not an equity investment, so the state does not acquire any ownership in your enterprise in return for the support.
Do I have to fund part of the project myself?
Yes. The incentive covers only a percentage of the total project cost — between 10% and 35% depending on your category — so the balance has to be arranged by the applicant enterprise.
Is the subsidy paid as a single lump sum?
No. Sanctioned amounts are disbursed in tranches over a period of 2 to 5 years, and the schedule depends on your enterprise category.
What is the last date to apply?
There is no fixed closing date. The scheme runs on a rolling basis and applications are accepted through the year, under the FPP 4.0 policy period of 2024-29.
What documents do I need to submit?
You will typically need a detailed project report covering the technology upgradation, expansion or diversification you are proposing, proof of enterprise registration, financial statements, and the other supporting documents listed in the policy.
How do I apply, and how is my application assessed?
You can file the application through the Andhra Pradesh Industries Department's portal or submit it physically at a district industries centre. It is first screened for completeness and basic eligibility, then evaluated by a committee of departmental officials and experts on technical feasibility, economic viability and the impact of the upgrade. Shortlisted applicants may be asked for discussions or a site visit, after which the incentive is sanctioned and a disbursement schedule is shared.
