AP Energy Audit Reimbursement — Up to ₹2L for MSMEs & FPOs — Frequently Asked Questions
Answers to the questions founders most often ask about AP Energy Audit Reimbursement — Up to ₹2L for MSMEs & FPOs — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.
Frequently asked questions
How much money can I actually get back under this scheme?
You can claim 75% of what the energy audit cost you, and the total payout is capped at ₹2 lakh. So the reimbursement is the lower of those two figures. If your audit bill was small, you receive 75% of it; if it was large, ₹2 lakh is the maximum you will be paid.
Which businesses and organisations are allowed to apply?
Micro, Small and Medium enterprises operating under the MEDP 4.0 and FPP 4.0 policies are the main applicants. FPOs, SHGs, Federations, Cooperatives and Societies are also covered, but for them eligibility depends on their investment size and whether they align with the policy guidelines. In every case the entity has to be operating within Andhra Pradesh.
Do I need MSME Udyam registration to claim this?
Yes. A valid MSME Udyam registration is a stated requirement, since the scheme is aimed at Micro, Small and Medium enterprises covered by MEDP 4.0. Keep the registration current before you file your reimbursement claim.
Is there a deadline I need to beat?
No. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis, so the scheme stays open rather than closing on a fixed date. That said, you still need to have completed the audit and be able to produce the invoices and payment proof before you submit.
Does the government take equity or a stake in my company?
No. This is a reimbursement, which is a form of subsidy. You get cash back against a cost you have already incurred, and in return you give up no shares, ownership or control of your business.
Can I claim this reimbursement more than once?
No. The scheme is expressly a one-time benefit, so an enterprise can claim it only once during the policy period. This is intended to spread the benefit across as many eligible entities as possible.
Is the audit cost paid upfront, or am I reimbursed later?
It works as a reimbursement. You engage a certified energy auditor, have the audit carried out and pay for it, and then apply to get a portion of that spend back. Proof of payment is one of the documents you must submit, which is why the claim follows the expense.
What documents do I need to put together?
You will need proof of your MSME registration, the detailed energy audit report prepared by the certified auditor, the auditor's invoices for the service, proof that you paid those invoices, and any other documents the MEDP 4.0 and FPP 4.0 guidelines or the application form call for. Make sure the details on the form match the supporting papers exactly.
How and where do I submit the application?
Conduct the audit first, compile the documents, and fill in the prescribed application form for reimbursement under MEDP 4.0 or FPP 4.0. Submit the completed package to the designated authority — typically the District Industries Centre (DIC) or the Department of Industries, Government of Andhra Pradesh. Scheme details and the application route are available at https://www.apindustries.gov.in/Incentives/Index.aspx.
What happens after I submit my papers?
Your application goes through verification, where officials review the audit report, invoices and payment proofs against the policy conditions. The check is about genuineness and compliance rather than competition with other applicants. Once the competent authority approves, the eligible amount is credited directly to your designated bank account.
