Answers to the questions founders most often ask about Aatmanirbhar Gujarat Scheme: ZED Certification Subsidy up to ₹50,000 for MSMEs — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.
Frequently asked questions
How much funding does this scheme offer an MSME?
The subsidy covers 50% of your ZED certification charges. Assistance you have already received under the Government of India's ZED scheme is deducted first, and the state share is worked out on what remains. The payout is capped at ₹50,000 per enterprise across the entire scheme period.
Is there an application deadline?
No. This is a rolling scheme, so applications are accepted on an ongoing basis rather than against a fixed cut-off date. The umbrella scheme itself is operative from 5 October 2022 to 4 October 2027, and claims need to fall within that window.
Who is eligible to apply for ZED certification support?
Your firm must be a Micro, Small or Medium Enterprise with acknowledgment or registration from the Ministry of MSME, or DPIIT recognition as applicable. New manufacturing enterprises qualify, and so do existing units going in for expansion or diversification. Commercial production must also commence during the scheme's operative period, which runs from 5 October 2022 to 4 October 2027. No age limit for the enterprise is prescribed — the operative date is when production starts, not when the business was incorporated.
Which types of business entities can apply?
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the usual Indian forms qualify — Private Limited Companies, Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs), One Person Companies (OPCs), partnerships and proprietorships, provided they meet the MSME criteria.
What is the objective of the ZED Certification component?
It exists to spread Zero Defect Zero Effect manufacturing among Gujarat's MSMEs. That means higher quality output with fewer defects, more energy-efficient operations and cleaner production, along with the adoption of advanced manufacturing standards that support the Make in India push.
Do I need MSME or DPIIT registration to apply?
Yes. The scheme requires acknowledgment or registration from the Ministry of MSME, or DPIIT recognition, as applicable to your enterprise. You will also upload proof of MSME registration, and DPIIT recognition where relevant, when you file the application.
How do I apply for this subsidy?
The whole process runs online through the Investor Facilitation Portal (IFP) of the Gujarat government. Register as a new investor on the portal and submit the registration form, then click the verification link sent to your email to activate the account. Log back in, fill in your business details and upload the required documents. The portal also runs a helpdesk for queries during the application journey.
What documents are needed with the application?
You will typically provide proof of MSME registration, DPIIT recognition if applicable, a breakdown of your ZED certification expenses, and other financial and operational information the portal asks for. Keeping every entry and attachment accurate and complete helps avoid delays in processing.
Can I claim expenses I have already incurred?
Yes. Eligible enterprises can claim assistance for costs incurred during the operative period of the previous scheme, which allows continuity rather than restricting support to fresh expenditure only.
Does the scheme take equity in my company?
No. The support comes as a subsidy, not an investment — the government does not take a stake in your business, and there is nothing to repay.
