Selection process

Assessment happens in stages, moving from the field office to the state directorate and back to the unit site.

  1. Proposal review at the Horticulture Mobile Team Centre. The application and detailed project proposal are examined for completeness and for conformity with the scheme guidelines.

  2. Referral to the Mission Directorate. Proposals that clear the first check are forwarded upward for evaluation and approval.

  3. Feasibility evaluation at the Directorate. The project is judged on its viability, its potential for value addition, and how well it fits the objectives of the scheme.

  4. Acceptance letter. A successful applicant is issued an acceptance letter and informed by telephone.

  5. Loan approval. During this window the promoter completes the sanction of the project loan, with departmental officers assisting.

  6. Unit establishment. The food processing unit is built and commissioned with technical assistance and supervision from departmental officers.

  7. Joint inspection. A departmental team visits the completed unit to verify that it has been implemented and is operating as proposed.

  8. Disbursement. After satisfactory verification, the eligible subsidy is released directly into the entrepreneur's bank account.
