Selection process

Applications are handled offline and decided at the district level, in a fixed sequence of steps.

  • Identification and form collection. The applicant approaches the local Veterinary Officer or Livestock Extension Officer, who identifies eligible beneficiaries in that area and issues the application form.
  • Document submission. The completed form comes back with the supporting papers attached.
  • Project report preparation. The Veterinary Officer helps draft a project report setting out the feasibility and financial projections of the proposed farm.
  • Bank submission. The applicant submits that report to a bank, mainly to explore financing above and beyond the subsidy.
  • Forwarding. The local Veterinary Officers pass the applications and reports to the office of the Chief Veterinary Officer at district level.
  • Verification. A District Executive Committee examines every application and document, checking eligibility and how workable the proposed farm is. Women and SHGs are preferred at this stage.
  • Final selection and disbursement. The committee confirms the beneficiary list, after which the approved subsidy is transferred into the beneficiary's KYC-certified bank account.
