Frequently asked questions

How much funding can I get from this program?

StartupTN offers matching equity of up to ₹50 lakh per startup on a 1:1 basis – meaning the fund matches the capital you raise from an external investor, up to that limit.

What is the application deadline?

The programme accepts applications on a rolling basis, which means there is no fixed deadline. Applications remain open until further notice, though it is advisable to check with StartupTN for any updates.

Who is eligible to apply?

Your startup must be a DPIIT-recognised private limited company, LLP, or partnership registered in Tamil Nadu (or willing to relocate its registered office there before disbursement). You need a validated Proof of Concept (prototype/pilot/lab validation), must operate in space-tech (e.g., satellite tech, GIS, AI for space, orbital logistics), and have secured a lead investor or raised funds within the last 12 months (or have a signed letter of intent from a prospective investor). Startups at product or revenue stage are eligible.

Is DPIIT registration mandatory?

Yes, DPIIT recognition is a mandatory requirement. You must be registered on the DPIIT startup portal and produce proof of the same.

Does the program take equity?

Yes, this is an equity investment program. StartupTN provides capital in exchange for equity in your startup, and the funding is structured as a 1:1 matching equity contribution from an investor.

What documentation is needed for the application?

You will likely need to provide or prepare documents such as your DPIIT recognition certificate, proof of incorporation/entity type, a validated PoC demonstration, evidence of investor interest (funding proof or letter of intent), and a pitch deck/ business plan. For a definite list, refer to the official application form linked via StartupTN.

How do I apply?

You apply online through the official application form hosted on Zoho. The direct link is available on the program description page on the StartupTN or StartupGrantsIndia website. There is no offline application process.

Can startups from outside Tamil Nadu apply?

Yes, but only if your startup commits to moving its registered office to Tamil Nadu before the funds are disbursed. The programme requires the registered office to be in the state.

What is the tenor or duration of the funding?

The funding is distributed in milestone-based installments. The total length of engagement depends on achieving agreed performance milestones as outlined in the investment agreement.

Does the fund support manufacturing or hardware-based space startups?

Yes, as long as the startup operates in any of the specified space-tech verticals – satellite tech, launch systems, GIS, AI for space, orbital logistics, or downstream applications. Hardware-focused startups with a validated PoC are welcome to apply.
