Selection process
Every application submitted through the online portal is reviewed by the Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare Department before a beneficiary is chosen.
- Eligibility screening. Applications are first checked against the core conditions — permanent residency in Assam, membership of the Tea Tribes and Adivasi communities, age between 20 and 35 years as on 1st January of the application year, self-employed status, and a family landholding of less than 10 bighas.
- Verification of benefit history and family limit. The reviewing committee confirms that the applicant has not received a similar benefit during the past three years, and that only one application has come in from the family.
- Preference for trained candidates. After screening, preference is given to candidates who have completed at least three months of relevant skills training.
- Weightage for disability. Candidates with physical disability receive due weightage as per government norms.
- Committee evaluation. Officials from the Tea Tribes and Adivasi Welfare Department then assess all qualifying submissions to identify the beneficiaries whose proposals best fit the scheme's objective of promoting self-employment and strengthening community capabilities.
