Frequently asked questions

How much funding can I get under the Spurring Entrepreneurship Initiative?

The scheme offers a startup loan of between ₹2 lakh and ₹20 lakh. The exact figure within that range depends on your proposal and on how J&K Bank assesses it.

Will I have to pay interest on the loan?

Mission Youth covers the interest component, up to a ceiling of ₹2 lakh. This support holds as long as you repay the principal amount diligently, without defaulting.

Is any margin money required from me?

No. Applicants are not required to put in margin money, so you do not have to fund a share of the project cost from your own pocket.

Does the scheme take an equity stake in my business?

No. This is a debt facility rather than an equity investment — the amount is a loan you repay, and Mission Youth does not take any stake or ownership share in your venture in return.

Who is eligible to apply?

You need to be aged between 18 and 40 years and to have passed at least Class XII. Your unit, whether new or expanding, must be located in Jammu & Kashmir. If you are starting a fresh venture, you must be unemployed and registered with the District Employment and Counseling Center. Where the applicant is not an individual, an eligible entrepreneur has to hold at least 51% shareholding along with a controlling stake. An individual can take assistance under this scheme only once.

Can a business that already exists apply for assistance?

Yes, as long as the business has been established for at least two years. The scheme is open both to people setting up a new unit and to owners seeking to expand an existing one.
