FAQ

Answers to the questions founders most often ask about Puducherry Infrastructure Subsidy — 25% Capital Support Up to ₹1 Cr — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.

Frequently asked questions

How much funding does the Puducherry Infrastructure Subsidy actually provide?

You receive 25% of the amount you invested in constructing the building. For IT industry units and for infrastructure developers leasing to IT or biotechnology occupiers, the cap is ₹1,00,00,000. Biotechnology units building for their own occupation have a lower cap of ₹50,00,000.

Who is eligible to claim this subsidy?

Three groups qualify. Infrastructure developers building at least 50,000 sq. ft. for lease to IT or biotechnology industries. Industrial units constructing factory space of at least 50,000 sq. ft. for IT industries. And biotechnology units investing in their own buildings of at least 5,000 sq. ft. for self-occupation.

Is there a last date to apply?

The scheme runs on a rolling basis, so there is no fixed closing date. However, your claim still has to be filed inside a set window: new units get one year from obtaining their Entrepreneurs Memorandum Part-2, permanent registration or commencement of production certificate, while existing units get one year from completing expansion, diversification or modernisation.

Does the scheme take equity in my company?

No. This is a subsidy, which means the support is non-dilutive — the Industries and Commerce Department does not acquire any shareholding or ownership stake in your unit in exchange for the money.

How is the subsidy paid out — one lump sum or in parts?

It is paid in instalments spread across years. No single annual release can be more than ₹25,00,000, and the payments continue year on year until the entire eligible amount has been settled.

What does the scheme count as an IT industry?

For this scheme, IT industries covers manufacturers of computer systems, software and Information Technology Enabled Services (ITES), Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) and Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) operations.

Is DPIIT recognition or MSME registration required?

The published conditions for this subsidy do not list DPIIT recognition or MSME registration as a requirement. What they do reference is the Entrepreneurs Memorandum Part-2 and permanent registration, which matter because obtaining them starts the one-year clock for filing a new unit's claim.

Does a building constructed before 2006 qualify?

No. The investment on the building must have been made on or after 31 July 2006 for the expenditure to be counted towards the subsidy.

Where do I get the application form and how do I submit it?

Download the prescribed form from the website of the Directorate of Industries and Commerce, Puducherry. Complete every mandatory field, attach self-attested copies of the required documents, and submit the signed form with its supporting papers to the concerned authority. Ask for a receipt or acknowledgement that carries the submission date, time and a unique identification number where applicable.

Who evaluates my application and on what basis?

The State Level Committee reviews it. The committee goes through the documents you have filed against the eligibility conditions and decides, on the merits of the individual case, whether the industrial unit or developer should be granted the incentive.
