What is PMMSY?
Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) is a ₹20,050 crore flagship scheme (2020–26) by the Department of Animal Husbandry & Dairying, Government of India, offering capital subsidies for fisheries and aquaculture infrastructure.
Who can apply for funding?
Fishers, fish farmers, fish workers and vendors, entrepreneurs, Self Help Groups (SHGs), women SHGs, cooperatives, Fish Farmer Producer Organisations (FFPOs), and private firms in fisheries and aquaculture can apply. Both individuals and groups are eligible.
How much subsidy is offered?
General category beneficiaries receive 40% of the project cost, while SC/ST/Women beneficiaries receive 60%. The remaining share must be funded by the beneficiary.
What activities does the scheme cover?
Aquaculture ponds, biofloc units, hatcheries, brood banks, cage culture, seaweed farming, fishing vessels, cold chain infrastructure, ice plants, fish feed mills, fish processing and value-addition units, and retail fish kiosks.
Is the subsidy repayable or does it involve equity?
No. The subsidy is non-repayable and no equity is taken.

The scheme is rolling and always open for applications under the 2020–26 programme.
Do I need DPIIT or MSME registration to apply?
No, DPIIT and MSME registration are not required.
