Selection process

Applications are submitted online and reviewed by the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.

The review examines eligibility first — whether the applicant is a qualifying manufacturing MSME, where its energy audit stands, and what the implementation plan looks like. The decisive test, though, is the result: the unit must show that it has achieved energy savings of at least 10% after carrying out the audit recommendations.

The subsidy is only disbursed once implementation is complete and an independent, authorised energy auditor has certified it. That verification step is what ensures the incentive is paid for demonstrated energy conservation rather than an intended upgrade.

Savings are measured on specific energy consumption — kilowatt-hours or kilocalories per unit of product. The comparison uses a twelve-month average from before the recommendations were implemented against an average of at least three months after.
