Frequently asked questions

What exactly is Opsimius?

Opsimius is an operations case competition organised by Opmac, the Operations Club of IIM Bangalore, as one of the events under Venix 2026 — IIM Bangalore's International Business & Entrepreneurship Summit. Teams apply operations and supply chain management concepts to solve business problems, and the competition runs fully online over three rounds.

How much can a team win at Opsimius?

There is a total prize pool of ₹30,000, which is shared between the winning team and the runners-up. There is no separate grant or stipend attached to the competition — the reward is prize money.

Who is eligible to participate?

The competition is open to all students, from any discipline, so long as they are interested in operations management, supply chain management and business problem-solving. Entries must be submitted as teams of 2 to 3 members.

What is the deadline to register?

Registration closes on 25 July 2026. Teams need to sign up on the Unstop platform before that date, and it is the team leader who handles the submission there.

What are the rounds and what does each involve?

Round 1 is a quiz of 25 questions — multiple-choice or subjective — on operations management and supply chain management, to be completed in 20 minutes on the Unstop platform. Teams that qualify move to Round 2, where they receive a case study and submit a solution. The top 8 teams from Round 2 then present their proposal to a panel of judges in the final round.

How many slides are allowed in the Round 2 case submission?

The solution must be submitted in PPT format, capped at 5 slides excluding the title slide. Teams may add up to 3 further slides, or an Excel file, to carry supporting information.

What criteria are used to judge the case submission?

Four things are assessed: how well the team understands the problem, how innovative the proposed solution is, whether that solution is feasible, and the clarity of the team's thought.

How many teams reach the final round?

The top 8 teams from the Round 2 case submission advance to the final round. The exact timings and the mode of that final presentation are shared closer to the festival date.

Does Opsimius take equity in a participant's venture?

No. Opsimius is a case competition with cash prizes and is not an investment programme, so no equity or ownership stake is exchanged for taking part. It is also different from a startup funding scheme — it is aimed at students rather than registered companies.

Do I need DPIIT recognition or MSME registration to take part?

No. Eligibility rests simply on being a student and competing in a team of 2 to 3 members. DPIIT recognition and MSME registration are not part of the requirements.

How and where do I apply?

Registration takes place on the Unstop platform. The team leader registers the team there and, if the team qualifies for Round 2, submits the solution on Unstop in line with the specified file naming convention.
