How much funding can I receive through GUSEC Seed?
Eligible startups can get up to ₹50,00,000 (₹50 lakh) per venture. The exact amount and structure (equity, debt, or a mix) are decided on a case-by-case basis.
Do I have to be incubated at GUSEC before applying?
No, you can apply even if you are not yet incubated. The same application covers both seed funding and GUSEC incubation. However, the first funding tranche is released only after you complete three months of exclusive incubation at GUSEC.
What types of companies are eligible?
Your company must be registered in India as a Private Limited company or an LLP. At least 51% of the shareholding must be held by Indian promoters – OCI and PIO holders count as Indian. Subsidiaries of foreign MNCs or overseas companies are not eligible.
Is DPIIT registration mandatory?
DPIIT recognition is preferred but not strictly mandatory. However, your startup must fall under DPIIT's definition of a startup.
Which industry sectors does GUSEC Seed prioritise?
GUSEC targets deep-tech areas including artificial intelligence, space technology, IoT, machine learning, defence technology, and related deep-tech fields. Startups with a strong technology/product focus, intellectual property, traction, or those raising larger funding rounds are given preference.
When is the application deadline?
Applications must be submitted before 31 May 2026.
How do I apply for GUSEC Seed?
You need to submit the GUSEC Seed application form via their official website (https://gusec.in/nidhisss). The same form serves as both the seed and incubation application for non-incubated applicants. Ensure you comply with all GUSEC policies, such as the Startup Progress Review and Community Development Contribution.
Does the programme take equity in my startup?
Yes, GUSEC Seed is structured as equity or convertible instruments. The funding may be disbursed as equity, debt, or a combination. Accepting an equity stake is a condition of the support, though the exact terms vary per case.
Are there any reporting requirements after receiving funds?
Yes, you must submit half-yearly progress reviews to the SSMC for at least 12 months after fund utilisation, including quarterly financial accounts, annual reports, a final synopsis report up to nine months post-utilisation, and a Utilisation Certificate.
Can I apply if I already have grants from other organisations?
At the time of fund disbursement from GUSEC Seed, there should be no unutilised grant funds earmarked in your startup's name from GUSEC or any other incubator.
