Frequently asked questions

How much money does this scheme actually provide?

You can access bank finance of up to ₹50,000 to start a new nano enterprise or to grow an existing small unit. On top of that financing, the state gives a subsidy that brings your effective cost down.

What does the subsidy work out to in rupees?

The subsidy is calculated at 25% to 40% of the financing. How much you get within that band depends on your district category — A, B, B+, C or D — and on whether you fall in the general or special social category. The ceiling is ₹20,000, so even if the percentage works out higher, the amount stops there.

Who is eligible to apply?

You must be a native or permanent resident of Uttarakhand and at least 18 years old. No educational qualification is required. You also need an account with the bank that will finance the project in your area, and neither you nor your entity can be a defaulter of any bank or financial institution.

Do I need DPIIT recognition or MSME registration to apply?

The eligibility conditions listed for this scheme do not include DPIIT recognition or MSME registration. What the scheme asks for is proof of residency in Uttarakhand, the minimum age, a bank account with the financing bank in the concerned area, and a clean credit record.

Do I have to give away equity to receive this money?

No. This is a subsidy scheme routed through bank finance, not an equity investment, so no stake in your business is taken in return. Your ownership of the enterprise stays intact.

Can a business that is already running apply?

Yes. The scheme is meant for setting up a new nano enterprise as well as for expanding or upgrading a small business that already exists, so both first-time founders and current owners can apply.

What documents will I need?

Keep ready your photograph, Aadhaar card, permanent residence or domicile certificate, a special category or caste certificate if applicable, a copy of your project details, an affidavit, your education certificate, bank account details, a disability certificate if applicable, and your ration card. All of these have to be self-attested and uploaded online.

How and where do I apply?

Applications are filed online through the official portal at https://msy.uk.gov.in/. Once submitted with the self-attested documents, the application is forwarded online to a bank for further processing and funding.

Is there a last date to apply?

No. This scheme runs on a rolling basis and stays open, so there is no fixed deadline you have to beat. You can apply whenever your project plan and documents are ready.

When does the subsidy money reach me?

The subsidy is released only after your project has been successfully operational for one continuous year. That means you start the business first, keep it running, and the subsidy follows once that year of operation is completed.
