What is the MSME Competitive (LEAN) Scheme?

It is a government-subsidised program run by the Ministry of MSME that helps MSMEs implement LEAN manufacturing techniques to reduce waste, improve productivity, and boost competitiveness.

What is the subsidy amount?

Micro enterprises get 80% subsidy, small enterprises get 60%, and medium enterprises get 50% of the cost of LEAN implementation. Units owned by women, SC/ST entrepreneurs, or located in special geographic areas receive an additional 10%.

Who can apply?

Any Udyam-registered MSME, particularly manufacturing units, can apply. Cluster participation is encouraged but individual units are also eligible.

Is DPIIT or MSME registration required?

You must have a valid Udyam Registration certificate. DPIIT registration is not required.

Does the scheme take equity?

No. The subsidy is non-repayable and no equity is taken.

What documents are needed?

Typically, you need your Udyam Registration certificate and details about your unit. The exact documents will be specified by your MSME-DFO.

How do I apply?

Visit msme.gov.in or contact your nearest MSME Development and Facilitation Office (MSME-DFO). The scheme is open on a rolling basis.

Certified consultants implement tools like 5S, Kaizen, Kanban, Poka-Yoke, and Value Stream Mapping on your shop floor.

How is the subsidy disbursed?

After a certified consultant implements LEAN techniques and the MSME-DFO verifies the work, the subsidy is disbursed through the MSME-DFO.

Is there a deadline to apply?

No, the scheme is open on a rolling basis – you can apply at any time.
