Selection process
Applications are placed before a state-level committee or another designated authority, which reviews each proposal and decides whether the grant should be approved.
The review concentrates on three things:
- whether the applicant and the proposed laboratory satisfy the scheme's eligibility conditions;
- whether the project is feasible; and
- how closely the proposal aligns with the objectives of the Maharashtra Industries Investment and Services Policy 2025.
Selection turns on two factors — the merits of the proposal and the fact that only the first 12 laboratories set up during the policy period can be funded. The intent is to back projects that materially strengthen the state's industrial quality infrastructure.
On the applicant's side, the usual route is to register the unit and the project with the relevant state industrial department or portal — MAITRI is the example cited — and then file a detailed project proposal. That proposal is expected to carry a breakdown of capital cost (excluding land), a project timeline and the proposed utilisation of the laboratory. Supporting paperwork covers incorporation documents, MSME or DPIIT certificates where applicable, and financial statements. Any formats or declarations prescribed by the implementing agency also apply, and disbursement follows approval.
