FAQ

Answers to the questions founders most often ask about LIDCOM 50% Subsidy Scheme — ₹10,000 Business Loan Subsidy in Maharashtra — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.

Frequently asked questions

How much money does the LIDCOM 50% Subsidy Scheme actually give?

The scheme covers half of a business loan, but the subsidy is capped at ₹10,000. Since the maximum loan under the scheme is ₹50,000, the subsidy hits its ₹10,000 limit once the loan reaches about ₹20,000 and does not increase beyond that.

Who is eligible to apply for this scheme?

You need to be an Indian citizen living permanently in Maharashtra, aged between 18 and 50 years, and a member of the Charmakar community (Dhor, Chambhar, Holar, Mochi and others). Your family's annual income must not be more than ₹1,00,000, and you should have adequate working knowledge of the business you are seeking the loan for.

Is there an application deadline?

No. The scheme runs on a rolling basis and stays open through the year, so there is no last date to meet. You can collect and submit the form at any point during the year at a LIDCOM office or the authorised nodal agency.

Do I need DPIIT recognition or MSME (Udyam) registration?

The scheme's stated eligibility conditions do not include DPIIT recognition or MSME registration. What matters is your citizenship and Maharashtra residency, your community, your age, your family income and your knowledge of the proposed business.

Does the scheme take equity in my business?

No. This is a government subsidy, which makes it non-dilutive — LIDCOM does not take any stake, shares or ownership in your venture in return for the money.

Is this a grant or a loan that I have to repay?

It is a subsidy layered on top of a bank loan. The subsidy portion, up to ₹10,000, does not have to be returned. The underlying loan sanctioned by the bank does have to be repaid, along with interest charged at the bank's existing rates.

What documents do I need to submit with the application?

Typically you will need proof of residence, a caste certificate, age proof, an income certificate, your bank details, and a brief project report or business plan that demonstrates your knowledge of the proposed venture.

How and where do I apply?

Applications are accepted offline only. Collect the prescribed form from a designated LIDCOM office or a district-level Charmakar community development centre in Maharashtra, attach the supporting documents and submit everything in person to the LIDCOM office or the authorised nodal agency. Details are available on the LIDCOM website.

What kind of businesses does the scheme support?

The subsidy is meant for micro-enterprises and small businesses run by individuals from the Charmakar community. LIDCOM's own focus area is the leather industries, while the wider aim is economic upliftment of the community. Whatever the trade, you must be able to show that you understand the business you are borrowing for.

Is there an age limit for applicants?

Yes. You must be at least 18 years old and not older than 50 years at the time of applying.
