Frequently asked questions

How much can a team win at HUL TechTonic Season 8?

The winner takes home ₹3,75,000 in cash, the first runners-up receive ₹1,50,000, and the second runners-up get ₹1,00,000 — a total prize pool of ₹6,25,000 across the three placings. Separately, the top two participants from each campus are recognised under #TechDoneRight with goodies worth ₹50,000.

Who is eligible to participate?

You must be in your first year of a full-time MBA at one of the 14 listed B-Schools: FMS Delhi; IIM Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode, Lucknow and Mumbai; JBIMS Mumbai; SJMSOM, IIT Bombay; SPJIMR Mumbai; SCMHRD; and XLRI Delhi and Jamshedpur. Students from other institutes or other years of study are not eligible.

Do I need DPIIT recognition or MSME registration to apply?

No. Those registrations matter for government startup funding schemes, not for this competition. TechTonic is a case study contest for MBA students, so the only things that matter are your B-School, your year of study and your team.

Does the competition take equity in my company or idea?

No equity is taken. TechTonic is a prize competition — teams receive cash prizes for winning, and there is no investment, stake or dilution involved at any stage.

What is the application deadline for Season 8?

Registration on Unstop closes on August 20, 2026, which is also the deadline for submitting your first-round case solution. The case study itself is revealed earlier, at a virtual launch event on July 31, 2026, so teams have a few weeks to prepare their entry.

How many members should a team have, and can teammates be from different campuses?

A team must have exactly three members, and all three must be from the same campus — cross-campus teams are not accepted. Cross-specialisation teams are allowed, so you can mix classmates from different specialisations. One student cannot join more than one team, and no team changes are permitted after registration closes.

Can more than one team from my college enter?

Yes. There is no limit on the number of teams an institute can send to the competition, so several teams from the same campus can register in parallel. The only restriction is at the individual level — a student can be part of only one team.

What do we have to submit in the first round?

Stage 1 requires a 2-slide PPT that covers your analysis of the case, the strategy you propose, and a working agent prototype. The submission is due by August 20, 2026.

What happens if our team makes the top 5?

You receive mentorship from a Unilever mentor to refine your solution, and then present at the grand finale at the Unilever Campus in Bangalore. Each team gets 15 minutes: a 10-minute presentation with 5–6 slides and a functional agent demo, plus a 5-minute Q&A with senior global leaders from Unilever Operations. Finalists are also shortlisted for pre-placement interviews for the ULIP role in UniOps.

Is there an internship or job opportunity attached to the competition?

Yes. The top 5 finalist teams are shortlisted for pre-placement interviews for the ULIP role in Unilever's UniOps function. Candidates who succeed can secure an internship with a stipend of ₹4.4 lakhs, and may receive a PPO to join Unilever as a ULIP in GDT.

How do I apply for HUL TechTonic Season 8?

Register as a team of three through the Unstop website before the August 20, 2026 deadline. Updates on timelines, prizes and other details are shared on the @Unileverdiariesindia and @Unstop Instagram handles.
