Selection process

Applications move through a set sequence once the project and its financing are in place.

  • Review the guidelines. Read the Incentives Guide PDF and any supplementary instructions issued by the Department of Industries so the project and paperwork meet policy requirements.
  • Plan the project and arrange finance. Prepare a full project report for the cold chain facility and obtain a term loan from a bank or financial institution.
  • Submit the application. File the application form together with the project report, loan sanction letter, detailed cost estimates, land or site documents and statutory clearances with the designated nodal agency, such as the Department of Industries or Food Processing.
  • Scrutiny and verification. Officials check the submission for completeness and eligibility, and verify project details, financial commitments and compliance with policy norms.
  • Committee review. A State Level Committee or equivalent body evaluates the proposal, and technical experts may examine the cold chain plan. Members are drawn from the Department of Industries, Food Processing and other relevant state departments, and they assess how well the project aligns with the objectives of the State Food Mission.
  • Disbursement. After approval, the subvention is released periodically — quarterly or annually — into the applicant's account or adjusted against the loan, and continues for 7 years.

Final approval also depends on the availability of funds under the scheme.
