How much funding does the Safety Audit Scheme provide?
There are two benefits. You can claim back 75% of what you spend on a safety audit, capped at ₹1,00,000. Separately, you can get a 50% subsidy on the cost of capital equipment purchased for safety measures, capped at ₹5,00,000.
Who is eligible to apply for this scheme?
Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises are eligible, whether they are newly established or have been running for years. The unit must be registered — for example under Udyog Aadhaar or with an EM Part-II acknowledgement — and must not be manufacturing any item on the restrictive list.
Is there a deadline to submit an application?
No. The scheme runs on a rolling basis and stays open, so there is no fixed closing date to race against. You can apply once your enterprise and your safety spend meet the conditions.
Does the scheme take equity or a stake in my company?
No. This is a government subsidy and reimbursement programme, not an investment. You receive back a defined percentage of your safety audit and safety equipment costs, and no shares or ownership are given up in return.
Do I need to be a registered MSME to qualify?
Yes. Registration is one of the eligibility conditions — the enterprise must be registered, such as under Udyog Aadhaar or with an EM Part-II acknowledgement. Industrial units should also hold an NOC or CLU where applicable.
Who is allowed to carry out the safety audit?
The audit has to be conducted by auditors from a recognised ISO-certified agency. An in-house review or an auditor outside such an agency will not meet the scheme's requirement.
Are certain industries excluded from the scheme?
Industrial units that manufacture items appearing on the restrictive list cannot apply. Beyond that, the enterprise must be in commercial production, and must still be in regular production when the disbursement happens.
How do I apply for the Safety Audit Scheme?
Applications are made online on the Antyodaya-SARAL Portal. First register as a new user with your name, email ID, mobile number and a password, then verify the OTP sent to your email and mobile — or use the verification link — to activate your profile. After signing in, open the Scheme/Services list, select the Safety Audit Scheme, and click Apply for Service/Scheme to fill in and submit the form.
Can I check the status of my application after submitting it?
Yes. You can track it online at the SARAL status portal. You can also track by SMS: send SARAL from your registered mobile number, or send SARAL followed by a space and your Application ID or Ticket Number from any other mobile number, to 9954699899.
Is there any cost to apply?
The government levies no charge for the scheme itself. A service charge of ₹10 applies for online services and at Atal Seva Kendras.
