Gujarat MSME Scheme for Saving Energy & Water — Up to ₹20.5L Support — Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Answers to the questions founders most often ask about Gujarat MSME Scheme for Saving Energy & Water — Up to ₹20.5L Support — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.

Frequently asked questions

How much funding can one enterprise actually receive?

Two amounts stack together. The state reimburses 75% of your audit bill, capped at ₹50,000, and separately covers 25% of the cost of the equipment the audit recommends, capped at ₹20,00,000. An enterprise that uses both ends up with support of about ₹20.5 lakh in total.

Who is eligible to apply?

The scheme is meant for micro, small and medium enterprises in Gujarat, covering units already running as well as new enterprises. Along with MSME status, you need an energy or water audit done by a recognised institution or consultant, equipment installed as that audit advises, and a reduction of at least 10% in your energy or water consumption once the recommendations are implemented.

Is there an application deadline?

No fixed closing date applies to individual applicants — the scheme is rolling, so applications can be filed through the year. The umbrella programme itself is operative from 7 August 2020 to 6 August 2025, and any claim has to fall inside that window.

Does the government take equity or a stake in my business?

No. The assistance is structured as a subsidy, which makes it non-dilutive. You do not give up any shareholding, and the money does not have to be returned the way a loan would.

Do I need an energy or water audit before applying?

Yes, and it is not optional. An audit carried out by a recognised institution or consultant is the base of the whole claim — it identifies where your inefficiencies are, and its recommendations decide which equipment becomes eligible for the subsidy.

How much must I reduce my consumption?

At least 10%, measured after you have put the audit's recommendations into practice. If your consumption has instead gone up because production grew, the scheme treats that case separately and reviews it on its own merits.

How many times can I claim these benefits?

The audit reimbursement is available once during the scheme's operative period, and the equipment subsidy is available one time per enterprise. It makes sense to plan the audit and the upgrade as a single, well-documented project.

Is DPIIT recognition or MSME registration required?

The scheme's published details are built around the applicant being an MSME enterprise — that is the status the component speaks to. DPIIT recognition is not listed among the conditions in the material available for this component.

How do I apply?

Everything is handled online through Gujarat's Investor Facilitation Portal. Begin with the 'New Investor Registration' option, complete the registration form, verify your email through the link sent to your inbox, then log back in using your registered email address and password. Inside the dashboard you fill in the business details and upload the documents the portal asks for. The registration page is at https://ifp.gujarat.gov.in/IC/digigov.htm?actionFlag=loadCitizenRegPage.

What documents will I need to submit?

The portal prompts you for its mandatory documents as part of the application and asks you to upload them along with your business details. The scheme information available does not enumerate each document separately, so it is sensible to have your enterprise and audit paperwork to hand while filling in the form.
