Approval is not automatic once an application is filed. A committee or department designated by the Government of Maharashtra scrutinises each submission in detail.

The review typically covers:

• the project proposal that has been submitted;
• verification that green technology really has been adopted within the manufacturing process;
• an assessment of the technology costs being claimed;
• confirmation that the project is classified as a Mega or Ultra Mega project.

Site visits or consultations with subject experts may also form part of the evaluation, so that the project's compliance with the policy's objectives can be confirmed. Only once this scrutiny is complete does the application proceed to final approval and disbursement of the reimbursement.
