Selection process
Getting selected is a mix of eligibility checking and a viability assessment by the state authorities.
- Eligibility screening. The applicant's age, education, tribal community membership, Goa residency and credit record are checked first. Anyone who is a defaulter with a bank or financial institution is ruled out at this stage.
- Application submission. A hard copy of the form is collected from the department, or the proforma is printed from the online source. All mandatory fields must be filled in, a passport-sized photograph must be pasted on the form and signed across, and self-attested copies of the required documents must be attached. The completed, signed form along with the documents goes to the concerned authority.
- Review by the department and GTEGP-TFC. Submitted applications are examined by the Department of Tribal Welfare along with the Goa Tribal's Employment Generation Programme - Tribal Finance Corporation (GTEGP-TFC), which checks that the proposal follows the scheme's guidelines and that the project is viable.
- Final approval and sanction. Sanction of the loan and disbursal of the subsidy rest at the discretion of the GTEGP-TFC. The same body decides the repayment schedule and the length of the moratorium.
- Post-sanction training. After the loan is sanctioned, the beneficiary must complete the compulsory entrepreneurship training of up to 7 days within six months of the sanction date.
