Overview
ELEVATE Unnati 2026 is a special grant programme run by the Karnataka Innovation and Technology Society (KITS) under the Department of Electronics, IT, BT & S&T. It is part of the state government's flagship ELEVATE grant-in-aid scheme, with a dedicated focus on startups founded by individuals from Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) communities. The programme offers an equity-free grant of up to ₹50 lakh to help these startups develop proofs-of-concept and scale their innovations.
To qualify, SC/ST directors or partners must collectively hold at least 70% equity in the company, and this shareholding must be maintained throughout the project. The grant is disbursed in two equal tranches linked to milestone completion, governed by a tripartite agreement among KITS, the selected K-Tech innovation partner, and the startup. Selected startups also receive subsidised incubation and mentoring support at K-Tech innovation hubs, accelerators, and centres of excellence.
ELEVATE Unnati runs alongside the general ELEVATE call and two other specialised calls — ELEVATE Aspire (for startups outside Bengaluru Urban) and ELEVATE Shakti (for women-led startups). Startups may apply to multiple calls, but a single pitch is evaluated across all selected calls, and the total grant is capped at ₹50 lakh. A unique benefit for Unnati applicants is that they skip the desk-based pitch deck evaluation and advance directly to the Multi-City Pitching round.
