The programme provides seed funding, but it does not publish a fixed amount — the figure is listed as varying and is settled through the evaluation and selection cycle. Alongside the seed fund, EP helps founders reach its empanelled group of investors and facilitates CSR funding, so how much capital a venture can raise in total depends on how it progresses inside the programme.

Applications are open to ESDM, corporate and student applicants from across India. A startup can be at the ideation stage, at an early or pre-revenue stage, or have a prototype ready for testing and implementation; ventures with breakthrough technologies also apply. The solution must sit in ESDM or in cognitive computing and social sensing, and applicants need to demonstrate innovation, scalability and the ability to generate employment or create wealth.

Not at the application stage. If your entity is not registered yet, you can apply in the names of the promoters or founders. However, company registration must be completed within three months of selection for the Center of Excellence. Applicants who are already registered must be a Private Limited Company, a registered Partnership Firm, or a Limited Liability Partnership.

Yes, both apply. The entity must not be more than 10 years old from its date of registration or incorporation, and its annual turnover must not exceed ₹100 crore in any financial year since incorporation. An entity created by splitting up or reconstructing an already existing business is not eligible.

The published eligibility conditions do not list DPIIT recognition or MSME registration as a prerequisite. Selection turns on the entity type allowed, the 10-year age limit, the ₹100 crore turnover ceiling, and the innovation and ESDM focus of the solution. MSMEs are explicitly part of the beneficiary group the programme supports, which also covers pre-incubation, incubation, virtual incubation, acceleration and dedicated MSME acceleration tracks.

The support under OCP is a grant, so the seed funding is non-dilutive — the programme does not take a stake in your company for the funding it provides. EP does connect selected teams with its empanelled investors and helps with CSR funding; any investment arising from those introductions would be negotiated separately between you and the investor.

Teams get furnished office space with high-speed internet, conference and meeting rooms, a pantry, 24x7 power backup and security; access to ESDM laboratories with 3D modelling, 3D printing and modern designing software; prototyping assistance; mentoring from industry and domain experts; virtual incubation and acceleration; legal and accounting services; business connects; product improvement guidance; IPR filing assistance; go-to-market support; and connections to national and international events.

All applications go through a rigorous, centralised, multi-tier screening process involving experts from the relevant domains. A dedicated Startup Selection Evaluation Committee handles screening, evaluation and the final selection and onboarding of eligible startups and MSMEs. The committee's decision is final and binding on all applicants.
