How to Apply for Dr. B. R. Ambedkar e-Auto Subsidy — ₹3 Lakh for SC/ST Women in Puducherry

Applications are not judged on a business plan or a pitch — they are screened for eligibility and then ranked.

1. Welfare Inspector review. Every application that arrives is first examined by a designated Welfare Inspector, who checks it against the scheme's criteria. Only those found eligible move ahead.
2. Selection Committee. Shortlisted applications go before the Selection Committee for consideration.
3. Publicity. The process is advertised in leading daily newspapers, in English and in regional languages such as Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam, so that reach is wide and the exercise stays transparent.
4. Ranking. Eligible applicants are picked mainly on seniority of age, following a first come, first served approach.
5. Lottery, if needed. When more than 50 applications come in during a year, selection may instead be done by drawing lots. The draw is held openly, with at least three applicants present.
6. De-duplication. Once selection is done, the beneficiary list is uploaded to the Urban Development Housing portal so that nobody draws a similar benefit twice from overlapping schemes.
7. Transfer block. The Registering Authority then places a block on transferring the vehicle's ownership in the Transport Department's VAHAN software, which stays in force for 5 years.
