Frequently asked questions

What exactly does the Service Sector component of this Yojana give me?

It gives you relief on the interest you pay against a term loan. If your new service sector enterprise has borrowed money for machinery, equipment, or furniture and fixtures, the state pays back a fixed percentage of the interest every year for a set number of years. It is a recurring subsidy on your borrowing cost, not a one-time cheque.

How much interest subsidy can I actually receive?

The rate and the ceiling depend on where your enterprise is located. In Category I Talukas you get 8% with a cap of ₹35,00,000 per year for 7 years, which can total up to ₹2,45,00,000. In Category II Talukas it is 7%, capped at ₹30,00,000 per year for 6 years, up to ₹1,80,00,000 overall. In Category III Talukas and Municipal Corporation areas it is 6%, capped at ₹25,00,000 per year for 5 years, up to ₹1,25,00,000.

Does the scheme take equity in my business, or is the money repayable?

This is a subsidy component, so no equity stake is taken in your enterprise and the amount is not something you repay. What the subsidy does is absorb part of the interest charged on your existing term loan, which effectively lowers the cost of that borrowing.

My business is already running. Can I still apply?

The component is meant for new MSMEs in the service sector, so an established unit does not fit. There is a second timing condition as well: the term loan has to be sanctioned within one year before commercial production begins. If your loan sanction falls outside that window, the application will not meet the criteria.

Do I need Udyam/MSME registration to apply?

Yes. Udyam/MSME registration is among the mandatory documents uploaded with the application. It also matters for the extra benefit: registered startups in the service sector holding a valid Udyam/MSME registration qualify for an additional 1% interest subsidy over and above their category rate.

Who is eligible in terms of founder and business type?

The enterprise must be a Micro, Small or Medium enterprise operating in the service sector, and it must be run by an SC/ST entrepreneur whose contribution is 51% or more. It has to be a new unit, with a term loan sanctioned for new machinery, equipment, or furniture and fixtures, and it should hold proper tax and business registrations.

Which documents will I need to submit?

The application on the portal asks for financial information, project details and entrepreneur profiles. Among the supporting documents, Udyam/MSME registration, the loan sanction letter, and the caste certificate are the ones the process specifically calls for, along with the tax and business registrations that confirm your enterprise is properly registered.

What is the deadline, and how long is the scheme valid?

The umbrella scheme has been in force since 7 August 2020 and is effective until 6 August 2025, which is the closing date to work with. Individual beneficiaries can keep drawing the interest subsidy for 5 to 7 years depending on their Taluka category, so the benefit continues over the loan tenure even though the scheme window itself ends in August 2025.

How do I apply for this interest subsidy?

Applications are made online through the Investor Facilitation Portal (IFP) at ifp.gujarat.gov.in/DIGIGOV. You first complete a New Investor Registration with your personal and business details, then click the verification link sent to your registered email to activate the account. After logging in with your email and password, you open the relevant scheme application from your dashboard, fill in the business and project details, and upload all mandatory documents before submitting.

How is my application assessed before the subsidy is released?

The Industries and Mines Department, Gujarat reviews and verifies every application filed on the portal. The check covers your MSME classification as a new service sector enterprise, the 51% or more SC/ST contribution, the proper sanctioning of the term loan for eligible assets, and full compliance of every uploaded document with the scheme guidelines. Applications that clear this verification move to the disbursement stage. If you run into technical trouble while filing, the portal has a Helpdesk section for assistance.
