AP Investment Subsidy (MEDP 4.0) — Up to ₹7 Cr for New MSMEs — Frequently Asked Questions

FAQ

Answers to the questions founders most often ask about AP Investment Subsidy (MEDP 4.0) — Up to ₹7 Cr for New MSMEs — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.

Frequently asked questions

How much can a business get from the AP Investment Subsidy?

It depends on the category of the enterprise. A micro unit can receive up to ₹25 lakh, a small unit up to ₹1.5 crore, and a medium unit up to ₹7 crore. In every case the payout is capped at 25% of eligible Fixed Capital Investment, so whichever of the two figures is lower decides the final amount.

What percentage of my investment does the subsidy cover?

The rate is 25% of eligible Fixed Capital Investment for all three categories of MSME. Your category changes only the maximum rupee amount you can claim, not the percentage of the investment that is subsidised.

Who is eligible to apply?

The scheme is meant for new Micro, Small and Medium enterprises being set up in Andhra Pradesh. The subsidy is calculated on the fixed capital such a unit invests, so that investment needs to be in place and verifiable when the claim is processed.

Do I need DPIIT recognition or MSME registration to apply?

DPIIT recognition is not listed as a condition under this policy. The scheme targets new Micro, Small and Medium enterprises, and the documents generally called for include an enterprise registration certificate, a detailed project report, evidence of the fixed capital investment made, and financial statements.

Is there a last date to apply?

No. This is a rolling scheme that remains open throughout the year, so there is no application window or cut-off date to work against. You can file once your unit and its capital investment are in place.

Is the subsidy repaid, or does the government take equity?

Neither. This is a government subsidy, so the money is non-repayable and interest-free, and it does not dilute the promoter's shareholding. It is an incentive that offsets capital expenditure, not a loan or an equity investment.

How is the money paid out?

It is released in tranches rather than as a lump sum. Micro enterprises receive the subsidy over 2 years, small enterprises over 3 years, and medium enterprises over 4 years. Before a tranche is released, the department verifies the eligible Fixed Capital Investment that was made.

How do I apply, and what documents are needed?

Applications are filed with the Andhra Pradesh Industries Department through its designated online portal or its physical office, following the procedure set out in the policy document OG-For-AP-IDP-MSME-EDP-FPP-(4.0)-2024-29.pdf. The portal entry point is https://www.apindustries.gov.in/Incentives/Index.aspx. Typical documents include enterprise registration certificates, a detailed project report, proof of fixed capital investment, and financial statements.

Who decides whether my application is approved?

The Andhra Pradesh Industries Department reviews and approves applications. It assesses whether the enterprise meets the eligibility criteria, whether the proposed project is viable, and whether the application adheres to the MEDP 4.0 guidelines. The claim then proceeds only after the eligible Fixed Capital Investment has been verified.

Can a medium enterprise apply, or is this only for micro units?

All three categories are covered. Micro, small and medium enterprises each have their own ceiling and their own disbursal period, and medium units are eligible for the largest amount at ₹7 crore.
