FAQ

Answers to the questions founders most often ask about Aatmanirbhar Gujarat MSME Power Connection Subsidy — Up to ₹5 Lakh — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.

Frequently asked questions

What exactly does this Gujarat scheme pay for?

It reimburses part of the money an MSME spends with its electricity distribution licensee. The eligible spends are a new power connection, an additional load taken for expansion, and the shifting of an existing connection or service line. LT and HT service lines are both covered.

How much money can my enterprise receive?

The state returns 35% of the amount you paid to the distribution licensee, and the total assistance per enterprise is capped at ₹5,00,000 for the whole operative period of the scheme. If your claim calculates above that ceiling, the excess is not funded.

Is there a last date to apply?

There is no fixed closing date for applications — the window is rolling and open throughout the scheme's operative period, which runs from 5 October 2022 to 4 October 2027. The binding clock is per claim: you must file within one year of the day you paid the distribution licensee.

Does the government take equity or a stake in my business?

No. This is a subsidy, not an investment, so no shares, ownership or equity are taken in return and nothing has to be repaid. The enterprise simply receives a cash reimbursement towards its power infrastructure spend.

Who is eligible for the power connection subsidy?

The applicant must be a registered MSME holding acknowledgment or registration from the Ministry of MSME or DPIIT, as applicable. The unit has to be located outside a GIDC estate or an approved industrial park, the payment to the distribution licensee must fall within 5 October 2022 to 4 October 2027, and the application must be filed within one year of that payment.

Does my unit inside a GIDC estate qualify?

No. Being located outside GIDC estates and approved industrial parks is one of the conditions of this component, so an enterprise operating inside those boundaries cannot claim assistance under it.

Can I claim for a connection I paid for before the scheme started?

Only payments made to the distribution licensee during the operative period, 5 October 2022 to 4 October 2027, are considered. Any charge settled outside those dates falls beyond the scheme's window.

Is MSME or DPIIT registration compulsory?

Yes. Registration or acknowledgment from the Ministry of MSME or from DPIIT, as applicable to your enterprise, is part of the eligibility requirements, and the reviewing authorities verify it along with the rest of your claim.

How do I apply for this assistance?

Applications go through Gujarat's Investor Facilitation Portal at https://ifp.gujarat.gov.in/DIGIGOV/. Start with New Investor Registration, complete the form, verify the link sent to your email, then log back in with your email address and password. Once inside your account, fill in the required business details and upload the mandatory documents to complete the application. A helpdesk link is available on the portal for queries.
