Frequently asked questions
What exactly is the Aatmanirbhar Gujarat interest subsidy for MSMEs?
It is a Gujarat government subsidy that covers a portion of the interest on a term loan taken by a micro, small or medium manufacturing enterprise. Support runs for a fixed number of years, and both the rate and the annual ceiling change with the taluka category in which your unit is located.
How much funding can my unit actually receive?
Category 1 talukas offer 7% per year, up to ₹35,00,000 annually for 7 years, which comes to a maximum of ₹2.45 crore. Category 2 gives 6% a year, capped at ₹30,00,000 annually for 6 years, or ₹1.8 crore in total. For Category 3 talukas and municipal corporation areas, the rate is 5%, limited to ₹25,00,000 a year for 5 years, up to ₹1.25 crore.
Who is eligible to apply for this scheme?
Your firm must be a micro, small or medium enterprise in the manufacturing sector. New units qualify, and so do existing units undertaking expansion or diversification. You also need MSME or DPIIT registration, commercial production or services must commence within the scheme's operative period, and you must stay regular with your loan installments and interest payments.
Is MSME or DPIIT registration mandatory?
Yes. The enterprise must have obtained an acknowledgment or registration from the Ministry of MSME, or from the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), as applicable. Without that recognition, the application does not qualify.
What is the last date to apply?
The final cut-off is 4 October 2027, the scheme's last operative date. An earlier individual deadline also applies: submit your application online within one year of whichever is later among the first loan disbursement, the commencement of commercial production or services, and the GR issue date.
Does the scheme take equity in my company?
No. This is a subsidy rather than an investment, so the government does not take shares or any stake in your enterprise. You stay fully in control of the business, and your ongoing obligation is simply to repay the term loan to your bank or financial institution as agreed.
How do I apply for the interest subsidy?
The process is entirely online through the Investor Facilitation Portal (IFP) at https://ifp.gujarat.gov.in/DIGIGOV/. Start with "New Investor Registration", complete and submit the registration form, then click the verification link sent to your email. Once the account is confirmed, log back in with your registered email and password, and finish the application by entering your business details and uploading the mandatory documents the portal asks for. The direct registration page is at https://ifp.gujarat.gov.in/IC/digigov.htm?actionFlag=loadCitizenRegPage.
Can an existing unit that is expanding or diversifying apply?
Yes. The scheme is not limited to brand-new projects. Existing enterprises taking up expansion or diversification are eligible, provided the other requirements are met — MSME or DPIIT registration, commencement of production or services within the operative period, regular loan repayments, and filing within the deadline.
Does the subsidy depend on where my unit is located?
Yes. The interest subsidy is tiered by taluka classification. Category 1 talukas carry the highest rate and the biggest annual ceiling, Category 2 sits in the middle, and Category 3 talukas along with municipal corporation areas receive the lowest tier.
Do I need to keep repaying my loan while claiming the subsidy?
Yes. Paying installments and interest to your bank or financial institution on a regular basis is listed among the scheme's requirements, so the loan account needs to remain in good standing for the duration of the subsidy.
