Selection process
Applications are screened by the State Channelizing Agencies (SCAs) and the designated banking partners, who judge each case against the scheme's stipulated eligibility criteria. The review looks at the applicant's background, the level of financial need, and whether the traditional occupation itself is viable.
A key part of the assessment is confirming that every community, income and occupational requirement is met, and that the proposed use of the funds genuinely fits the scheme's objectives of improving production and market linkages. Verification may involve site visits or interviews to establish that the applicant really is engaged in the stated traditional occupation and to understand the financial requirement.
Where applicants are otherwise comparable, preference goes to women artisans and to occupational clusters located in minority-dominated areas.
Once verification and approval are complete, the loan is sanctioned and disbursed to the applicant's Aadhaar-linked bank account.
