StartinUp

StartinUp is a flagship program from SIIC IIT Kanpur, the Startup Incubation and Innovation Centre at IIT Kanpur. This initiative aims to cultivate grassroots innovation and entrepreneurship across Uttar Pradesh, with a focus on job creation and technology adoption.

SIIC IIT Kanpur offers a robust ecosystem designed to help deep technology startups develop and scale, thereby contributing to the state's economic development and empowering its youth through various support and mentorship opportunities.

The program delivers extensive financial assistance for early-stage ventures. Successful applicants receive a monthly sustenance allowance of ₹17,500 for a period of twelve months, intended to cover living and operational expenses.

Additionally, a one-time prototyping grant of up to ₹5 Lakh is available, disbursed as a single payment. This grant is specifically for startups registered with both DPIIT and StartInUP, helping them develop Minimum Viable Products (MVPs), conduct essential testing, and refine their technology.

Further, seed capital of up to ₹7.5 Lakh is provided for marketing and go-to-market strategies. An additional 50% of this amount, potentially reaching ₹11.25 Lakh, can be released upon the achievement of predefined milestones. This comprehensive funding structure supports startups from product development through to market entry.

To be eligible for the StartinUp program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• The startup must be officially registered with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Government of India.
• Applicants are required to hold a valid registration under the StartInUP initiative by the Government of Uttar Pradesh.
• The startup must be operating within the state of Uttar Pradesh.

The selection process for StartinUp involves several stages:

• Online Application: Initial submissions are made through an online portal.
• Expert Screening: Expert evaluators review the applications.
• Detailed Proposal: Shortlisted startups are invited to submit a comprehensive proposal.
• Due Diligence: This stage may include interviews to further assess the applicants.
• Pitch Session: A select group of finalists will present their ideas to a judging panel.
• Final Selection: The panel makes the ultimate decision on program participants.
