Frequently asked questions

How much money will a finalist actually receive?

Each of the 25 finalists who completes the challenge according to the guidelines gets a cash reward of between ₹5,000 and ₹6,000. Across the full cohort that works out to approximately ₹1.50 lakh. The reward is calculated per approved set, and one set means 100 images.

What is the last date to register?

Registration closes on 5 August 2026. Applications are made through the official Unstop listing for SNAPSURROUND 2026 Phase 2, so it is worth registering well before the closing date rather than on the final day.

Who is eligible to take part?

Indian students and Indian professionals can both enter, and the organisers do not require any prior experience. Eligibility is not tied to a specific stream of study, industry or job role, so the main practical requirement is access to an Android mobile phone for capturing the images.

Can I participate as part of a team?

Yes. Teams of one to two members are allowed, which means you can compete on your own or pair up with one other person.

What exactly do I have to do in the challenge?

You observe your own surroundings and capture images of everyday objects and settings, then organise them into the predefined categories laid out for the challenge. The categories cover things such as household items, workspace setups, gym equipment, electronics, lifestyle objects and pets. The task is designed to test how well you observe, how much detail you register and how accurately you categorise what you capture.

How long does the challenge take to complete?

The expected duration is 5–6 hours. That estimate assumes a minimum pace of at least two photographs per minute, so the faster and more efficiently you shoot, the better the session is likely to go.

How many participants are selected?

Only 25 participants are selected for this challenge. Registrations may be far higher, so treat the shortlist as competitive even though the reward for those who make it through is guaranteed.

Does this program take equity or a stake in anything I build?

No. SNAPSURROUND is a skill-based competition that pays out cash rewards, not an investment. There is no equity, dilution or company stake involved at any stage.

Do I need DPIIT or MSME registration, or a registered company, to apply?

No. The stated eligibility is simply that you are an Indian student or professional, entering alone or in a team of up to two. There is no requirement anywhere in the criteria relating to DPIIT recognition, MSME registration or a particular business entity type.

How do I apply, and how will I know if I am selected?

Apply through the official Unstop listing for SNAPSURROUND 2026 Phase 2 before the 5 August 2026 deadline. If you are among the 25 selected participants, the organisers will contact you and add you to a WhatsApp group where the instructions for the challenge are shared.
