SIDBI Seed Fund Programme at SINE, IIT Bombay (Incubatees only) — Frequently Asked Questions

Startups can receive between ₹25 lakh and ₹1 crore as an equity or CCPS investment.

The programme accepts applications until 25 June 2026.

Only startups that are currently incubated at SINE, IIT Bombay or those that have recently graduated from its programme are eligible. The startup must also be DPIIT-recognised, have at least 51% Indian promoter shareholding, and operate outside the financial sector.

This is an equity or equity-like investment — not a grant. In exchange for capital, SIDBI receives shares or CCPS. However, SIDBI generally limits its stake to 10% to keep dilution low for founders.

DPIIT recognition is mandatory. The programme does not require MSME registration. You must also have an Angel Tax exemption if applicable.

No, startups in the financial sector — including lending, insurance, and NBFCs — are not eligible. Other sectors are welcome as long as they meet the other criteria.

Entities formed by splitting or restructuring an existing business are not eligible. The requirement of at least 51% Indian promoter holding typically applies to private limited companies, but the programme does not list a specific entity type.
