Selection process

Applications move through a defined, multi-stage process:

  1. Online application: submit your details and documentation, including your DPIIT recognition certificate, through the Startup India portal.
  2. Solution proposal: a detailed write-up covering your solution, how it maps to the challenge's focus areas, its impact on street vendors, its technical feasibility and its scalability — plus details of any existing product or prototype.
  3. Initial screening: a panel of experts checks eligibility and how relevant the proposal is to the challenge's objectives.
  4. Detailed evaluation: shortlisted startups may be asked to present or attend interviews and discussions with the selection committee. The committee draws experts from Startup India, MoHUA and other relevant organisations.
  5. Final selection: up to 30 startups are chosen across the thematic areas, judged on novelty and feasibility, potential impact on street vendors, scalability, team strength and alignment with the challenge's themes.
  6. Pilot implementation and disbursement: selected startups begin pilots with MoHUA and Urban Local Bodies, with grant tranches released as agreed milestones are achieved.
