Overview
Womenpreneur for Bharat 4.0 is the fourth edition of a flagship programme from PIEDS — the Pilani Innovation & Entrepreneurship Development Society at BITS Pilani — delivered in association with Aditya Birla Capital Foundation. Its single-minded focus is women founders building businesses outside India's biggest metros, specifically those whose ventures originate in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
Selected teams receive up to ₹15 lakh in funding along with incubation at PIEDS – BITS Pilani, mentorship and access to a wider network of partners and investors. The intent is to close the gap that women-led ventures in smaller cities typically face when they look for early capital and hands-on support.
The programme is deliberately impact-oriented. Applicants are expected to work on solutions tied to one or more United Nations Sustainable Development Goals — SDGs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 13 — spanning agriculture, food and nutrition, healthcare, education, women's welfare and safety, fintech and micro-lending, retail and digital commerce, and climate action.
Each cohort builds on the previous ones, and this edition continues the same mission: helping women entrepreneurs turn early-stage ideas into scalable, sustainable businesses that create value both commercially and socially.

Selection process
Everything begins with a screening round, where the programme checks whether an application meets the stated eligibility conditions — founder demographics, the stage the company is at, its revenue limits and its DPIIT certification.
Startups that clear screening move to evaluation, where reviewers look at how innovative the idea is, the size of the market it addresses, how well it lines up with the UN SDGs, and whether the solution can scale.
The review is carried out by a selection committee made up of experts from PIEDS – BITS Pilani and its partner organisations.
Ventures that stand out may then be asked to attend an interview or a pitch presentation round, which gives the panel a chance to judge the team and the strength of the business model.
Final cohort selections are made after that stage.
