Selection process
Selection runs through two distinct layers, and a startup must clear both.
Stage 1 — Internal review at RIIDL. Every application is first screened by the RIIDL team against the basic eligibility conditions and overall fit with the programme.
Stage 2 — Seed Management Committee (SMC) evaluation. Applications that clear the internal screen are placed before an independent Seed Management Committee, constituted in line with Department of Science & Technology guidelines and made up of experts from relevant fields. The SMC examines the innovation and technology involved, the size of the market opportunity, the strength of the founding team, and the soundness of the business plan.
Final selection. Offers go to the startups recommended by the SMC. Those selected receive seed support as a grant and/or a convertible instrument, as the committee considers appropriate under DST policy. The programme does not publish further stages such as interviews or pitch days.
