What is the NIDHI Entrepreneur-in-Residence program?

It is a DST-funded scheme that provides a monthly stipend, co-working space, and mentorship to aspiring entrepreneurs so they can work full-time on their technology business ideas without worrying about personal finances.

How much funding is offered?

Selected EIRs receive a monthly stipend between ₹10,000 and ₹30,000. The exact amount is decided by the host TBI.

What is the application deadline?

Deadlines vary by TBI, as each incubator runs its own selection cycle. You should check with your preferred TBI for current intake dates.

Who is eligible to apply?

You must be an Indian citizen with a minimum of 4 years of formal education in science/engineering, OR a 3-year degree/diploma with 2 years of relevant work experience. You must also commit to working full-time on your technology business idea, not hold a significant stake in another company, and be registered at a participating TBI.

Is DPIIT or MSME registration required?

No, the program does not require DPIIT recognition or MSME registration. It is open to individuals before incorporation.

Does the program take equity?

No. The stipend is a grant; the program takes no equity and does not require repayment.

What documents are needed to apply?

Typical documents include a detailed resume, educational certificates, a description of your business idea, and a statement of full-time commitment. Each TBI may ask for additional items – contact the TBI for a complete checklist.

How and where do I apply?

Applications are submitted directly to a participating Technology Business Incubator (TBI). You can find a list of NIDHI TBIs on the official website and apply through the TBI's own portal.

Can I apply if I already have a registered company?

No. The program requires that you are not a promoter or significant shareholder in any other company during the residency. It is designed for pre-incorporation ideation.

What kind of business ideas are supported?

The program focuses on technology-based business ideas that have the potential to scale. There is no restriction on industry, but you must demonstrate the ability to build a scalable technology venture.
