Answers to the questions founders most often ask about NBCFDC General Loan Scheme — Up to ₹15 Lakh for Backward Class Entrepreneurs — who qualifies, the funding amount, required documents and how the application works.
Frequently asked questions
How much can I borrow under the NBCFDC General Loan Scheme?
Loan assistance goes up to ₹15,00,000. Within that ceiling, NBCFDC finances 85% of your total project cost, and the remaining 15% can be contributed by a Channel Partner, by you, or by both together.
What interest rate will I be charged?
The scheme lends at concessional rates of 6% to 8% per annum. The precise rate you are offered depends on the loan amount and the guidelines in force at the time, and it is communicated by your Channel Partner.
Who is eligible to apply?
You need to be an entrepreneur whose activity generates income. You must belong to the Backward Classes as notified by the Central Government or a State Government. Your annual family income must not exceed ₹3,00,000. A Backward Class certificate and an income certificate are part of the documentation.
Is there a last date to apply?
No. The scheme runs on a rolling basis and stays open throughout the year, so you can approach a Channel Partner whenever your project is ready.
Does the scheme take equity in my business?
No. This is a term loan, so it is non-dilutive — NBCFDC does not take a stake or a share of ownership. You repay the borrowed amount with interest and retain full control of your venture.
How does repayment work, and is there a grace period?
Repayment is made in quarterly instalments spread over a maximum of 8 years. Before that begins, there is a 6-month moratorium during which principal recovery is paused, giving your business room to stabilise.
What kind of activities can the loan fund?
The scheme supports a wide range of income-generating work: agriculture and allied activities, small businesses, artisan and traditional occupations, transport and service ventures, and technical or professional trades.
What documents do I need to submit?
The usual set includes proof of identity, proof of address, a Backward Class certificate, an income certificate, a project report and bank statements. Online applicants upload scanned copies of the same documents through the NBCFDC portal.
Is DPIIT recognition or MSME registration required?
Neither appears among the scheme's eligibility conditions. Qualification rests on being an entrepreneur from the Backward Classes with an annual family income of ₹3,00,000 or less, along with a viable income-generating proposal.
How and where do I apply?
You can apply offline by collecting the prescribed form from the District Office of the relevant Channel Partner — a State Channelising Agency, Regional Rural Bank or Public Sector Bank — and submitting it there with your supporting documents. Alternatively, register on the NBCFDC website, complete the term loan form, upload your documents and submit; your request is then forwarded automatically to the Channel Partner for your location.
