Frequently asked questions

How much money can I get through Nana Vyavasay Mate Loan Yojana?

You can borrow up to ₹10,00,000. The sanctioned figure is limited to whichever is smaller — ₹10 lakh or the real cost of your project. The money comes as a loan, not a grant, so it has to be paid back.

What interest rate applies, and is there a lower rate for women?

The loan carries 5% simple interest per annum. Women applicants get a concessional rate of 4% simple interest per annum.

When does repayment start and how long do I get to repay?

There is a three-month moratorium, so repayment does not begin straight away. After that, the loan is paid back in 60 equal monthly instalments spread over five years.

Who is eligible to apply?

You must be a resident of Gujarat, belong to the unreserved category, be between 18 and 50 years of age, and have a family annual income of ₹6,00,000 or less. You also need to be willing to repay on the prescribed terms and to set up the business within three months of receiving the loan.

Can two members of the same family both apply?

No. Only one person from a family can avail the benefits under this scheme.

What kind of businesses does the scheme support?

Small self-employment ventures. The scheme names a grocery shop, a medical store, a readymade garment outlet and a bookshop as examples, but that list is not exhaustive — the aim is to help you set up or expand a small business of your own.

What can the loan amount be used for?

It can cover the initial setting-up expenses of your venture, your working capital needs, and other expenditures connected with the business.

Is there a deadline to apply?

No. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis and the scheme is always open, so you can apply at any point in the year.

Does the scheme take equity in my business?

No. Nana Vyavasay Mate Loan Yojana is a debt scheme — you repay the borrowed amount with interest, and no ownership stake in your business is transferred to the government or the corporation.
